Monday, December 16th

What we did:
1. Starter: What were the disadvantages and the advantages in the war at sea?
2. Received Permission Slips for the movie on Wednesday.
3. Finished the Notes!  Did pages 26, 28 and 30 in our booklets
4. Had the rest of the period to finish booklets.

What to do now:

1. Get a permission slip from me.  VERY IMPORTANT!!! If I don't get yours back,  you can't watch the movie.
2. Get the notes from a friend or from the website and draw the rest of your pictures.
3. Do the Starter.

Friday, December 13th

What we did:
1. Starter: what does it mean to be an honors student?
2.  Discussed some concerns about the essay and homework load. 
3. Took notes on "War at Sea" and some classes did "War in the south"

What you need to do:
1. Do the starter
2. Remember that honors classes are an option and not required. If you feel you are overwhelmed, please see your counselor about making some changes. 
3. Click on "Notes and Handouts" and copy the notes for pages 24 and 26 along with draw pictures for both.

What we did:
1. Starter: Have you made a choice?  To quit or re-enlist?  What's your strongest reason?
2. Worked through the DBQ packet to the last page.

What you need to do now:
1. Do the Starter
2. Finish the DBQ by working through the rest of the DBQ.  A typed final draft of the essay is due Friday.  Let me know if you need the weekend.

2. Turned in Starters for 200 pts.
3. Went "Caroling" to other classes.
4. 3rd Period and 4th Period took notes from slides 11 to 15.

1. Get your Starters and have a classmate correct them.  Turn them in with an Absent Slip.
2. From the "Road to Independence" notes, add pages 12 and 14 to your booklet.

1. Starter: Who was Thomas Paine?
                What was "common sense" to Thomas Paine?

2. Finished the video on Common Sense.

3. Explained and assigned the Essay that will be due soon (next week maybe)

4. Took notes on "Declaration of Independence" from the PowerPoint (under notes and handouts)

5. Watched a short video on the Declaration and started to discuss and read the Declaration.

1. Essay: Who should have won the war?  After analyzing the advantages both sides had, do the pre-write activity for your essay on the"cannon" worksheet titled "Who Will Win."

1. Starter:   1. Who is Patrick Henry?
                  2. What was the Olive Branch Petition?

2. Sang songs about Fort Ticonderoga and Battle of Bunker Hill (so fun, you really missed out!)

3. Discussed Patrick Henry's speech. **We corrected and turned in the orange paper with the three questions on it.

4. Took notes on "Common Sense" for page 8 of your booklets.  Some classes watched a video clip about Common Sense.

What to get from the Binder:
**A white paper titled "Who Will Win."  We just started it, but it's not due yet.

1. Go to the "Notes and Handouts" tab of the website and click on "Road to Independence" and take notes on "Pg. 8 Common Sense."

1. Starter: What are the pros and cons of the battles of Lexington and Concord?
2. Watched this video on Lexington and Concord
3. Took notes for pg 4 "2nd Continental Congress" and pg 6 "Battle of Bunker Hill and Dorchester Heights"
4. Read a speech by Patrick Henry and received a small orange paper to answer 3 questions on.

What to get from the Binder:
1. Small Orange slip of paper.  Use the white "Patrick Henry" paper to answer the questions.  The white paper you need to get from me or may be on your desk.

1. Get the notes and draw the diagrams for homework.
2. Read the speech by Patrick Henry and answer the questions on the orange paper.

What we did:
1. Starter: When is it okay to use violence to get what you want?  Is it ever okay?
2. Discussed violence and emphasized that death is real and not a game.  As we move into battles of the Revolution we need to remember these are real people who died.

1. Starter: List 3 forms of protest used by the Colonists.
2. Watched the totally awesome video "Too Late to Apologize: A Declaration" for fun.
3. Added pages to our booklets so that you have 30 more blank pages total.  For help, come see me.
4. Answered questions about the Causes of the War.  Get one of these from the binder along with a green packet with information.
5. Played a game that we will finish Monday.  I will get your a game paper upon your return if you are here Monday, and if you are not, it's okay.

What we did:
1. Starter: In your opinion, what event hurt the Colonists' and British relationship the most?
2. We decided NOT to turn in the books and to ADD more to the book and turn it in at the end of the term.
3. Took the "Pre-Revolution Self Assessment" quiz. **Very Important.
4. Discussed/corrected the orange "Cause and Effect" paper and turned it in.

**"Pre-Revolution Self Assessment Quiz."  Come and get one from the binder, I can exlplain how to fill it out, then turn it into the basket.
**Causes and Effects paper.  I will grade it.  It's 20 pts.  Turn into the basket.

What we did:
1. Starter: Explain the Who, What, Where, and Why of the Boston Tea Party.
2. Finished watching the video clips of the Boston Tea Party and finished the Venn Diagram
3. Then we read a primary source of a man who helped throw the tea and we wrote 10 Facts to have a clear understanding of the event.
4. Some classes finished correcting the "Outbreak of War" Packet and turned it in.  Ask a classmate.
5. Added one more page of notes to our "Road to Revolution" books.  It is "The Intolerable Acts" found here

What we did:
1. Starter: Why is the Stamp Act fair and why is it also not fair?
2. We finished our "speeches" (paragraphs or notes) and paired and debated.
3. Had a whole class debate as well.
4. Made a Venn Diagram in our notes and got ready to compare two portrayals of the Boston Tea Party.  We will finish that Thursday.

What we did:
1. Starter: In your opinion, what really happened in the Boston Massacre?
2. *Except 3rd Period, we turned in the Photo Analysis Worksheet
3. Finished or started the Learning Buddy Charts (if you have been absent, we made you one)
4. Chose sides to study/read about the Stamp Act (it's a green paper here in class) and took notes to be ready to debate tomorrow.
5. SO, if you were absent: get a green paper from me and I will tell you which side to take and you will write notes for that side.

What we did:
1. Substitute Today
2. Starter: List important products for each of these colonial regions: New England, Middle, Tidewater, Piedmont, and Frontier.

3. Starter our Vocabulary list.  If you don't  have a green Vocabulary sheet already, get one from the binder.  Add the word "Militia" and do all 4 parts of the vocabulary.

4. Made "Road to Revolution" books.  Bring a blue piece of card stock and ask a classmate to show you how to make the book.  It's not hard, just hard to explain.

Homework Assigned:
1. "Outbreak of War" packet for homework.  It's a Primary Source Reading with 5 questions and an activity.  These are in the white binder.
2. Read on page 95 of your textbook about the French and Indian War.
