Tuesday, October 28th

Learning Objective:
Students will analyze facts about the Lost Colony of Roanoke and predict what happened to the colony.

What we did:
1. Starter: Summarize what happened to Elizabeth Hooten.

2. Did page 14 about Colonial Punishments as a class.

3. Read about the Lost Colony of Roanoke and started to do the assignment on page 10 of the packet.


If you were absent:
1. Do the Starter
2. Get the reading info about Roanoke from Mrs. Dickson and use it to do page 10.
3. Finish the whole packet!

Learning Objective:
Students will link the geography of the colonies with the economic activities that the later states will be doing, and predict how this will effect the Civil War.

What we did:
1. Starter: Name the individual people that founded these colonies: 
          -Plymouth
          -Rhode Island
          -Maryland

2. Talked about page 6-7, the Geography of the three colonial regions

3. Used partners to complete pages 8-13, and skipped page 10 for now.

Students will analyze the similarities and differences of the 13 colonies.

What we did:
1. Starter: Put the region (New England, Middle, or Southern) next to the colony:
      -New York
      -Connecticut
      -Maryland
      -Georgia
2. Discussed page 4 but did not correct it.
3. Signed up for a colony to do the Brochure on

Students will review the 3 Colonial Regions through maps and summarizing in writing. 

What we did:
1. Starter: Name 3 towns in the colony of Massachusetts.
2. Corrected the map
3. Started page 4 and were assigned to finish it at home
4. Assigned the "Colony Brochure Project"

2. Correct your map using my key and be sure to put a score on the page.
3. Do page 4 of your packet.

Learning Objective:
Students will be introduced to the 13 Colonies and discover the location of major colonies.

What we did:
1. Starter: What was the most interesting fact you learned about Jamestown?

2. Corrected the Jamestown DBQ Packet and turned in.

3. Turned in the 1st Paragraph

4. Received the Colony Packet and began labeling and coloring the map.

If you were absent:
1. Do the Starter
2. Correct your DBQ Packet using the answer key in the black binder and turn into the Pink Basket
3. Turn in your 1st Paragraph to the Pink Basket (no need to correct it)
4. Get the new packet from the Binder and then come see me to add a few things to it.

Learning Objective:
Students will finalize their drafts of the 1st paragraph of an argumentative essay, and outline the rest of their essay answer.

What we did:
1. Starter: What are the names of the parts of a 1st Paragraph in an argumentative essay? Name all five.

2. Traded papers and peer corrected the 1st paragraph rough drafts.

3. Started the outline on pg. 12 together and finished individually.

If you were absent:
1. Do the Starter
2. Be sure your entire packet is completed the best way you can, then come and get help upon your return. Also be sure you have the 1st paragraph written.

2. Corrected the blue and yellow worksheets
3. Discussed pages 55-69 in textbook.
4. Received DBQ Packet and did pages 1-5
