All students will understand the importance and meaning of the Declaration of Independence.

What we did: 
We finished reading the Declaration or watched clips about it.

Starter: 
1. What are unalienable rights?
2. Who's job is it to protect those rights?
3. How does government get it's power?

2. Be sure to read the Declaration of Independence found on page 122.
3. Be sure you have your notes and pictures done up to page 16.

Students will understand the language of the Declaration and feel it's importance.


What we did: 
1. Starter
2. We learned about the Declaration of Independence today.  Some classes watched video clips, some took notes for pgs. 8 and 10. Others read the Declaration in the book.  Ask a classmate to be sure.

Starter: 
Who wrote "Common Sense" and what did he think was so obvious?

2. Check with a classmate what you missed.  Get the notes.
3. Be sure you have done the notes and pictures to page 16 before the break.

What we did today:

2. Discussed the 2nd Continental Congress and the Battle of Bunker Hill.
3. We sang some songs about the battles.

5. Talked about "The Boston Massacre" and took notes, examined different pictures of it, and watched another clip found here.
